Welcome back! How was your weekend? If you’ve missed any of the tutorials so far check out the “ABC Quiet Book” button up top. It’s got the full list of tutorials that have been published.
So onto today’s tutorial!
Supplies Needed:
- Felt
- Blue
- White Sparkly
- Pink
- Brown
- Tan
- Embroidery Floss
- Tan (optional)
- Ribbon (I used a blue organza)
- White Felt Page
- Letter I and J
Step 1: For “I” we’re making an ice cream cone. I cut out a cone shape from the tan. Then I cut out ice cream scoop shapes from the sparkly white, brown, and pink. I started with one and used that as a template for the others so they were around similar sizes.
Step 2: This next step is optional but I really think it adds great detail. I used some tan embroidery floss and stitch in a waffle type design on the cone. I just used a simple backstitch.
Step 3: For the J I actually had kind of a hard time coming up with something. Then I was like, DUH! Jellyfish! It was super easy but super cute too. I chose a lighter blue for the body and just like of cut out a blob shape. My favorite part is the tentacles. I cut eight strips of organza ribbon twice the length of the tentacles (though really you could use any ribbon you want).
Step 4: I folded the ribbon pieces in half and glued them to the bottom of the back of the blob. I tried not to be uniform at all about this. That way the tentacles would go all over.
Step 5: Glue your letters onto the white page. For the ice cream I just started by gluing the cone down first and then each of the ice cream scoops. For the jellyfish only glue down the top. Make sure the tentacles are nice and free! See you tomorrow!
